ProgramDescription:

ECEEarly Childhood Education and Care Program is designed to provide student withcomplete knowledge/skills to enter the Child care Facilities. Full time withfour weeks practicum to Enhance Student Training.

Earlychildhood educators plan, organize and implement programs for children betweenthe ages of infancy and 12 years. Early childhood educator assistants providecare for infants and preschool- to school-age children under the guidance ofearly childhood educators. Early childhood educators and assistants lead childrenin activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical andemotional growth and ensure their security and well-being. They are employed inchild-care centres, daycare centres, kindergartens, agencies for exceptionalchildren and other settings where early childhood education services areprovided. Supervisors of early childhood educators and assistants are includedin this unit group.

Admission Requirements:

Studentswish to enroll in the program are required to satisfy two criteria:

-         Grade12

-         Over18 years, Excellent Attitude

-         HaveGood Health, Good Communication


Learning Objectives/Outcomes:

At the completion of this program students will beable to describe and demonstrate learning outcomes of:

Ø   Providesall skills and have students job ready

Ø   Coverall assets of working in private on licensed care units—also prepare studentsto work with and enjoy handicapper Children.

Methods of Evaluation:

Students’ progress in the program is measured by theirsuccessful completion of the courses listed in the program outlines; a minimumof 70% of the all course marks as well as each assessment component of thecourses is required to successfully complete the program. Please see the individual course assessment methods outlined in the“Course description and outlines”

Completion Requirement:

A minimum of 70% mark for each of the program’scourses as indicated in “Students Assessment Methods” as well as a minimum of80% in attendance as indicated in “Attendance Expectations”

Program duration:

Thisprogram duration is 50 weeks (1 year). This translates to 1250 hours ofAcademic studies in class and 2 weeks of practicum.
